2017 CCRPI Scores Released

The Georgia Department of Education has just released the 2017 College & Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) scores for all schools. Our 2017 index score is 98.5, a five point increase from 2016! The weights of the CCRPI components incentivize and reward student growth and progress towards the state’s achievement expectations associated with the Georgia Milestones Assessment System. Vanderlyn Elementary has consistently and historically exceeded expectations in the area of achievement. As such, student growth, rather than achievement, has been our main focal point in the classroom. To address this paradigm shift, we implemented the Advanced Content Model of Instruction three years ago. Through this all-inclusive instructional model, we remained confident that teachers would inevitably be able to better meet the needs of all learners, which is reflected by our increased CCRPI score of 93.4% in 2016 to 98.5% in 2017. We are ecstatic to see such a leap in the area of student progress and growth! Vanderlyn shows consistency and sustainability as we now rank as the top elementary school in the DCSD.

Our entire school community should be very proud! The score takes into account a number of different measures including student achievement, student progress, and a gap closure rating where the state compares how well we are closing the achievement gap between our top and bottom performers. This score is a direct correlation to the high levels of teaching and learning that permeate our school culture, as well as a testament to teacher effectiveness. Overall, we have taken very decisive steps to implement instructional initiatives that allow all students to perform to their highest learning potential.

While we are very proud of our academic success, we are committed to our school improvement initiatives that will continue to focus on the following:

  • STEM education which promotes 21st century learning skills
  • Increased academic rigor through Project-Based Learning
  • Professional Learning Communities that focus on teacher effectiveness, best-teaching strategies, and open sharing of practice through collaboration
  • Additional staff to support our growing ELL (English Language Learners) population
  • Implementation of the EIP (Early Intervention Program) for struggling readers
  • Gifted certified teachers
  • Orton-Gillingham trained teachers

We feel positive that the programs we have implemented, coupled with our strategic efforts, will continue to yield positive learning outcomes for our students. We are excited about the progress that our students have made, and we will continue to provide a robust learning environment for all students.

Thank you all for your partnership with Vanderlyn Elementary School! I am looking forward to a strong finish to the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year!
