The Vanderlyn Vikings Science Olympiad team was one of 65 teams from all over Georgia invited to compete in the State Championship Elementary Science Olympiad Tournament held on Saturday, May 13th at Kennesaw State University. Teams were invited to compete because of their top finishes in Regional Science Olympiad tournaments. The Vanderlyn team earned a slot as one of the top six schools in the DeKalb County Science Olympiad, held back in March, this year.

School Council Voting Date: May 24, 2017 from 7:00am-7:00pm

School Council Nominee Biographies and Elections

School councils bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve education problems, to improve academic achievement, to provide support for teachers and administrators, and to bring parents into the decision making process.

Vanderlyn will elect four School Council Parent Representatives on Wednesday, May 24th between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., at Vanderlyn Elementary. These representatives will serve for 2 years. Click the "read more" link below to read the bio for each of the nominees. Please come vote!

On March 18 the Vanderlyn Science Olympiad Team competed in the DeKalb County Science Olympiad at Druid Hills Middle School. The Vanderlyn team clearly demonstrated their advanced “STEM-abilities” by winning the most 1st – 3rd place individual medals (eight 1st place, three 2nd place and seven 3rd place) compared to any other team in the competition. Vanderlyn students took home medals in 15 of the 25 events. As a result, Vanderlyn Elementary School will be advancing to the State Science Olympiad Competition to be held on Saturday, May 13.
