Parent Power Hour - January 27, 2017
During our upcoming session, we will provide an overview of the standardized testing process with an emphasis on the following: NWEA Map - Universal Screener, the Georgia Milestones, and the Gifted Eligibility process. We will discuss the benefits of standardized testing and how schools use results to inform instructional practices. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions related to your child's performance. Communications are an integral part of a positive school-home connection; therefore, it is our goal to provide an additional layer of communication that will foster a climate of transparency and open sharing of information. We hope you can attend.  
PCMS Host Informational Coffees for Rising 6th Grade Parents

Georgia Parent Survey
As part of the 2016-17 CCRPI score for our school, parent stakeholders will be given the opportunity to complete the Georgia Parent Survey. It is critical for all parents to participate in the survey as data from this survey, along with other sources, will be used in the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating within the CCRPI. The survey is now open and will remain open through Friday, March 3, 2017.  Click here to take the survey. 
Share the Warmth
This is a public service announcement from your Student Government Association. The spirit of altruism continues to flourish at Vanderlyn. Join the SGA as we help students in our school community stay warm this winter with the “Share the Warmth Coat/Blanket Drive.”

From January 17-31, we are asking everyone to donate a new or gently used coat or blanket. All items will be delivered by the SGA sponsors on Friday, February 3.  
Attention Writers!

Students in grades K through 5 are encouraged to enter the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition. This is an independent opportunity that students are to complete outside of school. Entries are due by January 20, 2017 new date: February 14, 2017, and should be turned in to the front office or to Mrs. Pansini in the school library. WeatherBug Online Weather Center
The Online Weather Center (OWC) serves as a source of local weather information for students, teachers, parents, and the entire community. OWC presents weather information from your new tracking station to our website. The tool also includes additional weather-related information for the local area including; radar and satellite maps, camera time lapses, and forecasts.
Vanderlyn Awarded the Platinum Award for Exhibiting High Academic Performance
As a result of our consistent high achievement, Governor Deal, through the Office of Student Achievement, recently awarded Vanderlyn with the Platinum Award for exhibiting High Academic Performance, meaning that our overall achievement over the last three years has been in the top 1% in the state. This is the highest honor that a school can receive in the area of achievement and we stand proud of this meritorious accomplishment.
